Located in oh-so-trendy South Beach, the Mercury Resort and Spa includes its own restaurants and bars, a massage studio and day spa, and the hopping Opium Garden nightclub. Situated at the southern end of Miami Beach's popular SoBe district (SoBe=South Beach), this boutique hotel is a block from the ocean and engulfed by nightclubs, cafes and designer shops. Mercury's guests can cool off in an outdoor pool and relax in a day spa that offers beauty services, multiple forms of massage, reflexology, aromatherapy and acupuncture. The hotel even provides free transportation to Miami International Airport, a rarity in SoBe hospitality circles.
To satisfy their culinary desires, guest can nosh shrimp, ginger soup, salmon, snapper and sea bass at the Mercury's Nemo Restaurant or the soup, salad, tempura, sushi, sashimi, ceviche and specialty drinks at the Shohi Sushi bar. Big Pink (yes, that's its name) dishes up hamburgers, chicken, fresh-cut French fries, pizza, salads, sandwiches and soups in SoBe's funky outdoor ambiance.
The 44 suites include high-speed Internet access, two TVs, complimentary premium channels, VCRs, CD players and libraries, and minibars. Guests will fall fast asleep on beds made up with Belgian linens. Kitchens include microwave ovens, refrigerators and dishes. Bathrooms have marble jetted tubs, bathrobes and two sinks.
By the way, be nice to the concierges. Guests who want to get into the trendy and jammed-packed South Beach clubs to party will need to rely on them to arrange VIP access, especially during the peak September-March season. Otherwise, guests stand about as much of a chance as a snowball's chance on the beach of getting in on their own.
